Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) begins their training in Bengaluru for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) Which is scheduled to start from April 9. RCB started their skill training season on Tuesday (March 9) for the uncapped players at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Uncapped players will also undergo a fitness test before starting their skill training. “The coaching department and some of our uncapped players got together in Bengaluru for a thorough fitness assessment before beginning skill training for the upcoming Vivo IPL 2021,” RCB tweeted along with a video.

All-rounder Harshal Patel was also at the training camp and said, “Fitness has always been a big part of this team’s culture. And in high-pressure games for two and a half months, you are gonna need to be fit and strong throughout those two months. So this assessment will help you to identify the areas where you not good as you should be. And then you get an opportunity to work on those weaknesses. So by the time you turn up for IPL, you are ready to go.”

Harshal Patel was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore from Delhi Capitals along with Daniel Sams ahead of the IPL 2021 Auction.

RCB’s Strength and Conditioning Coach, Shanker Basu, highlighting the difference between 2020 and 2021 IPL from a fitness perspective said, “Last year they did not do anything at all, so we couldn’t spike the load all of a sudden. I think this bio-bubble has made them tired and fatigued, so we need to be mindful of that fact also. See how much they have played. We need to take the mental aspect into consideration.”
