IPL 2021: KKR’s Nitish Rana beats Covid-19, joins the team for practice; urges citizens to stay safe- Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Nitish Rana has joined the teammates in Chennai to practice ahead of IPL 2021 after recovering from COVID-19. He entered the ground for the first time after 12 days of an extended quarantine. Following the guideline set by BCCI, Nitish stayed in isolation until he returned two consecutive negative COVID-19 reports.
“Nitish Rana joined his teammates last evening, after two consecutive negative results for Covid-19,” wrote KKR in a tweet post. The cricketer also came up a strong message and urged all the citizens to stay safe. “Having just beaten the virus, he urged everyone to stay safe and take all necessary precautions against Corona virus,” the tweet post added.

Commenting on the turn of events, Kolkata Knight Riders issued a statement which read: “Nitish Rana had checked into the KKR team hotel in Mumbai, on March 21, 2021 with a negative COVID report which was done on March 19, 2021. As per IPL protocol, he was tested on March 22, during his quarantine and the report showed that he was positive. He has had no symptoms and has been completely asymptomatic since. Again as per IPL protocol, he isolated himself and was tested again today. We are glad to report that he has tested negative. We expect him to start training with the team shortly and be fully fit well before the start of the season.”
Eoin Morgan-led KKR will play their opening match against David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai on April 11.
