IPL 2021: From Amit Mishra to Harbhajan Singh, 4 bowlers who can break Lasith Malinga’s record of most wickets in IPL- The richest cricket league in the world, IPL is set to kick off in just a couple of days. Today, we look at five top bowlers who are on the verge to break Lasith Malinga’s all-time record of most wickets in the cash-rich league. They are Amit Mishra (DC), Harbhajan Singh (KKR), Piyush Chawla (MI), Dwayne Bravo (CSK).
Amit Mishra (Delhi Capitals)
Delhi Capitals experienced bowler Amit Mishra is the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL after Malinga. He is just 11 wickets away from achieving the big record. In his 150 matches, Mishra has scalped 160 wickets, which includes 3 hat-tricks, the most in IPL history. Besides this, his economy rate stands at 7.34 rpo.
MI’s new recruit Piyush Chawla also features in the top 3 list of most wicket-takers in IPL. He has scalped 156 wickets in as many as 164 IPL fixtures. He needs 15 wickets to overtake Lasith Malinga at the top of the list. he has played for a number of clubs in IPL, including KKR.
IPL legend and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is also not too far behind. He has scalped 153 wickets in 140 matches owing to his stunning death bowling for CSK in IPL over the years. He had a significant contribution in helping CSK win IPL trophies thrice.
The newly-purchased Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowler Harbhajan Singh also features in the top 5 list. He has picked 150 wickets in 160 IPL matches at an economy rate of 7.05 rpo. He could have gotten close to Malinga’s figures if he hadn’t pulled out of IPL 2020.
