IPL 2021: Former CSK player Thisara Perera becomes first Sri Lanka cricketer to hit 6 sixes in an over- Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player and Sri Lanka cricketer Thisara Perera has become the first Sri Lanka player to smash six sixes in an over. He achieved the landmark while playing List A cricket for Army Sports Cricket Club in SLC’s Major Clubs tournament.  Part-time offspinner Dilhan Cooray was the bowler at the receiving end. The latter conceded 73 runs in four wicketless overs for Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club.

In his innings, Perera slammed unbeaten 52 runs off just 13 deliveries.

Thisara Perera in IPL:

Thisara Perera has played for six IPL teams in his career, including CSK in IPL 2010. In his IPL career, Perera picked 31 wickets and scored 422 runs in 37 matches. His breakthrough year was in 2013 with Sunsrisers Hyderabad where he picked 19 wickets. Perera’s total IPL earnings stand at Rs 12.3 crore.

Former Sri Lanka allrounder Kaushalya Weeraratne holds the record for the fastest fifty 12-ball fifty. He achieved the feat while playing for Ragana Cricket Club against Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club in 2005.

He is the second cricketer after West Indies captain Kieron Pollard to achieve the feat in 2021. The latter had achieved the feat while batting against Sri Lanka in a recent concluded T20I series off Akila Dhananjaya.
